Matt Neal and Shaun Hollamby headline BTCC Press Day at Donington Race Circuit
On Wednesday 8th September, Donington played host to the latest British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) Press Day. The event was organised to publicise the reopening of the newly refurbished circuit in time for the penultimate round of the 2010 BTCC season on the 18th and 19th September.
BTCC racing drivers Matt Neal and AmD Milltek Racing's Shaun Hollamby were on hand to treat members of the local press to hot laps around the track in the Milltek Sport VW Golf R and 430bhp Audi TT RS as well as Matt Neal's Honda Civic Type R.
The on-board lap with Shaun in Milltek's Audi TT RS (video below) clearly shows the circuit changes at the final chicane. "The new chicane layout is slower on the way in but quicker on the exit. You will be appoaching Redgate probably 5-10mph quicker which will catch a few people out!", said AmD Milltek Racing's Shaun Hollamby.
Milltek Sport is the main technical sponsor of the BTCC's AmD Milltek Racing team and provided two of their own fast-fleet cars for use on track for the day. Donington is also Milltek's home race track as their HQ is situated only a few miles away.
The next race is, of course, at Donington, on the 18th and 19th September. You can see full coverage of the race in the UK on ITV4 or, better still, come along and watch the event live from the track side - it's a truly worthwhile experience for anyone looking for an action-packed day out.
